Adding Missing Metadata
Introduction
How to add new metadata values to a project in CMap PIM.
Navigate to Metadata
If you wish to add new metadata values to your project, you can do so from the Metadata page. If you do not see a Metadata page on your project, please raise a support ticket. Only Project Owners have permission to create and edit Project Metadata.
To navigate to the Metadata page, from inside your project, click Metadata in the left hand Menu.
New Metadata
To create a new metadata value, first click New Metadata button in the command bar. This will bring up the Create Metadata panel, where you must fill in the appropriate fields.
Add Information
Part - From the dropdown, choose the appropriate Part for which the metadata will belong to. For example, if you wish to add a new Level to your project, select Level from the Part drop down.
Value - This represents the value that is assigned to either a Record/Office Document or Revision. Metadata values can be used for the parts that make up a Document Number e.g. Type, Zone or Level or they may be used for additional metadata such as Size, Scale or Document Group.
Title - This represents the display name for a metadata value. For example, if a Level metadata value was 00 the Title might be 'Ground Floor'. Making the Title descriptive allows users to fnd and search for the correct metadata value.
Default for Records - If this checkbox is ticked, this piece of metadata will be the suggested value in the dropdown when creating empty Records or uploading files.
Default for Office Documents - If this checkbox is ticked, this piece of metadata will be automatically set for any Office Document created from a Template.
Create
Once all values are filled in, click Create at the bottom of the panel. If there is no default Office Document value set, you will see a dropdown when creating a Document from a template where you can choose a value.
Finished
You have now successfully added a new piece of Metadata to a project
