Updating Metadata in a Project

Updating Metadata in a Project

Metadata is an essential element of CMap PIM as it allows users to filter and find information quickly and easily, therefore it is key to keep it up to date and accurate.

Your CMap PIM projects will have some metadata by default, but should you need to add your own values, you can use this guide.

Only Project Owners have the permissions to create and edit Project Metadata

If you do not see a Metadata page on your project, please raise a support ticket.

  1. To navigate to the Metadata page, from inside your project, click Metadata in the left hand Menu.
  2. To update a piece of metadata, first filter the list using the Filters tab to find the items you wish to update.
  3. Select the row in the list you wish to edit to open the Edit Metadata panel, where you can update the appropriate fields.

Title: This represents the display name for a metadata value. For example, if a Level metadata value was 00 the Title might be 'Ground Floor'. Making the Title descriptive allows users to find and search for the correct metadata value.

Default for Records: If this checkbox is ticked, this piece of metadata will be the suggested value in the dropdown when creating empty Records or uploading files.

Default for Office Documents: If this checkbox is ticked, this piece of metadata will be automatically set for any Office Document created from a Template.

Once all values are filled in, click Update at the bottom of the panel.

You have now successfully updated a piece of Metadata to a project!
