Can Emails Be Automatically Filed to a Project Based on Sender Address?

Short answer: not currently. CMap Mail does not support automatically filing incoming emails to a project purely based on the sender's email address or a distribution/group address.

How filing works today

CMap Mail's automatic and intelligent filing is driven by project association (e.g. the project the email relates to, matched via project members, subject/reference matching, or manual selection) rather than by sender address alone. Emails sent to a shared project distribution address still need to be filed to the correct project using the standard filing options in CMap Mail.

What you can do instead
  • Use CMap Mail's existing project-based and intelligent filing options to file emails as they arrive.
  • If you regularly receive email at a shared/distribution address for a single project, consider adding the relevant users as members of that project so filing suggestions work as expected.

Automatic filing purely by sender/distribution address has been logged as product feedback. If this would help your workflow, let your CMap contact know and we'll factor it into future roadmap discussions.
